It all started on a July Evening in 2013. The
clouds of hope had just started hovering and struck the capital of India and so
did the people from different walks of life to bring in hope and assurance of a
good monsoon. The auditorium of SP Jain Center for Management, FMS saw a lot of
hustle and bustle on the eve of 8th July 2013. Many of them highly experienced,
many of them highly enriched and many of them highly motivated - All gathered
together into the auditorium to listen to the opening lecture of The Dean, FMS
for another chapter in their Professional and Personal lives.
One of the most high profile batch consisting of
Defense Personnel, Doctors, Engineers, Managers and Government Officials were
to start their journey and has been rightly said "Journey is more
beautiful than the destination", they all embarked on a new journey to add
another feather in their caps and bring laurels to one of the most sought after
Institute – FMS. The Journey was to achieve their Masters in Business Administration
and rather learn through the enriching experience of the fellow men and women
and contribute towards the Economic Growth and Better Administration without
compromising on ethics.
50 Days passed by through those grueling lectures
and maintaining a balance between professional, personal and academic life,
these warriors having a mean and median of almost 15 years of experience have
sailed through half of the journey before their first milestone arrives. Though
many survived the light tremors of Organizational Behavior but surviving
through Managerial Accounts – Are you understanding? , was a horrifying
experience. The moment you thought that you have understood the rules of the
game and ready to play, there was a ball which will pitch you over and many
were out on duck. And there was a Tsunami to be followed with Assignments, Case
Studies and Surprise Tests in all the subjects viz a viz Managerial Accounts,
Marketing Management, Managerial Economics, Quantitative Methods and Corporate
Finance. Though few of them got stuck in the whirls of Managing IT for Organizations
but then their peers helped them survive through.
To mark the ups and downs through-out the first
phase of the first milestone, few of them decided to celebrate it in style but
then there were many who felt it is too early to celebrate. The ice was not yet
broken and to mark the ice breaking event, the first ever Networking event was
conducted for the EMBA Batch of 2013-2015, FMS, New Delhi. The evening of
August 31st 2013 saw the High Tea being hosted at the SP Jain Center
for Management, FMS, South Campus, New Delhi. The High Tea was graced by the
renowned faculty of FMS – Dr. Simrit Kaur, Dr. Preetam Khandelwal and Dr.
Monica Singhania. Attended by more than 75 participants, the evening saw a lot
of discussions on the current Economic Situation grappling the country, the
fall of rupee and how the Organizations behave in these situations. High Tea was supposed to be an Ice-breaking
event and so did it was. The lawns at the south campus saw high profile Managers,
Commanders and Colonels dance to the famous Bollywood numbers and play Musical
Instruments. The future leaders of the corporates, banks & government
offices finally broke the ice and mingled with the crowd. Who knows we might see
another LN Mittal, Narayan Murthy, Dr. Trehan or Raghuram Rajan. The batch one of its kind
has a lot of potential and may break through the most difficult challenges.
Hoping to see all of them achieve through new heights.
